She best spent her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Loretta was well known for her abilities in the kitchen but is honorably noted for her peach cobbler. Loretta enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her family, fixing hair, watching TV, singing, attending family gatherings, and cooking. She was a faithful member of New View Church of Christ in Center Point. Haney, and to this union, ten children were born. Shortly thereafter, Loretta wed Thurman G.

She attended Dunbar High School in Center Point, later graduating from Childress High School in Nashville. Loretta, known to family and friends as “Bobbie Jean”, was born the youngest of eight children to the union of Alonzo and Dorothy Dowd Vaughn on August 12, 1935, in Center Point, Arkansas.
